Keene School District - Keene, New Hampshire

Summary

Keene High School faced long-standing challenges common to many secondary schools: bathroom spaces that had become difficult to supervise and uncomfortable for students due to vandalism, bullying, and vaping. Traditional restroom layouts limited visibility while failing to provide students with a sense of safety and privacy.

EEI partnered with the Keene School District, architects, engineers, contractors, administrators, facilities staff, and students to develop an innovative, design-focused solution. The result was a reimagined restroom concept that balances student privacy with improved supervision, transforming a problematic space into a safe, functional, and welcoming environment.

This project reflects EEI’s broader, long-term partnership with Keene School District. Since 2014, EEI has delivered comprehensive, turnkey energy and infrastructure improvements across the district—averaging approximately $2 million per year and totaling more than $24 million in completed projects. These efforts have improved comfort, safety, efficiency, and long-term building performance district-wide.
